Surface
Saturn is a gas giant and doesn’t have a solid surface like Earth. You cant stand on Saturn, because it is mostly made of gasses, and it has a lot of helium.
Location
Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun, and is the farthest planet from Earth that is visible to the naked eye.
Temperature
The temperature on Saturn changes with altitude – the upper layer, ammonia ice, has a temperature ranging from -173°C to -113°C. The next layer contains normal ice, with temperatures from -88°C to -3°C. Temperatures in the lower layers reach as high as 57°C.
Radio Emissions
NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has recorded radio emissions from Saturn’s auroras. These were then converted into sound waves. These sounds can be heard in recordings released by NASA, and provide insights into the planet’s electromagnetic environment. You can hear one of these recordings below.
